Clients and Supporters

Drake's Island originated as a partnership project created and developed by staff at Stoke Damerel Community College and Plymouth Services for Children and Young People (part of Plymouth City Council).

These same staff while still in post at the above institutions form the core of Snowcrash Republic.

Some additional financial support was provided by those generous people at the Real Ideas Organisation (RiO) and Creative Partnerships.

Our main clients, of course, are the young people that have used Drake's Island:

'I enjoyed all of it. It didn't feel like a normal lesson.'

'I have loved it and I can’t think of anything better.’

‘It didn’t feel the same as an English lesson it was ten times better and more amazing in everyway.’

‘On the island I have good friends and I think it's a great place to be. My friends all like me and some even follow me.  Snowcrash (the protagonist character) is a nice guy and has a lot of tolerance with every one.’

'You feel like a king there's nothing better.   I've learnt a lot playing it.’

‘Second Life English lessons were good because we didn’t use any text books and I enjoyed it because it made me more aware of communicating.’
